Dave Mail 31: The "F" on the Telecaster

The '60 Telecaster - besides the gaffer tape on top of the body, for avoiding John to hurt his arm - had an "F" in the shield. Did you put that "F" in it to distinguish from the '65 Telecaster that John gave Josh (during the Stadium Arcadium tour), or is there any other reason, or it wasn't you who put it there?

Dave Lee: "That "F" in the pick guard was there when he bought the guitar. It was always a mystery to us. It is a perfect Fender logo "F". It looks like it would've come from the factory like that. It doesn't look hand done. But I've never heard of the Fender factory doing that. Very strange."
