Dave Mail 67: When Dave Lee wasn't "guy of John"

At any moment of these 12 years of working with the Chili Peppers, did you missed any concerts and was replaced by someone?

Dave Lee: "Actually, yes (little known fact).

When John first came back to the band (just before recording Californication), nobody was sure what was going to happen. I had been working some splitting most of my time between Ozzy, and Korn. During the short three week "trial run" with John, I had some Korn shows overlap. So, I brought a guitar tech friend named Jim O'tell in to cover me on 3 or 4 of the Chili's shows. Then, when the Peppers were ready to get busy, I pulled Jim in to take over with Korn. Last I've heard he's still working with Korn."
