Dave Mail 98: The Gibson SG mystery and the purchase of the '69 Les Paul Custom

John Frusciante had a Gibson SG Custom in Cherry Red from 1961 and, what it seems like, a Gibson SG in Sunburst which was used in Still's shows (a tribute band to Joy Division with Josh Klinghoffer and Flea) in october 2000. Can you tell me more about them and about which one was used for overdubs in "Otherside" - since the Cherry Red was only seen being used by him to play "Fortune Faded", at the end of the Californication tour in 2001?

Dave Lee: "I don't remember a sunburst SG. The "Cherry Red" one was more brownish. And yes, he did use it for overdubs. That guitar was what led him to get the Les Paul. That SG has an old factory tremolo that was a nightmare. So, it wasnt very practical for touring. That's what inspired him to get the black Les Paul."
