Dave Mail 6: MXR Micro amp and the signal loss

It is known that Frusciante had a MXR Micro Amp in his setup, but, how was it used? Was it only during some parts where the guitar was highlighted, like solos or riffs? Or was it always turned on to give the sound a little more saturation?

Dave Lee: "The micro amp was usually on, to make up for signal loss from going through so many old school pedals that are not true bypass."

How did you deal with the signal loss, since Frusciante had the guitar signal passed through all the pedals at the same time? Did you used anything, like a buffer or patchbay?

Dave Lee: "See last answer."
